Three Days of Learning, Dialogue and Connection
IHHG 2027 will bring together Indigenous Peoples, communities, organizations and partners for keynotes, plenary conversations, concurrent sessions, cultural experiences and opportunities to exchange knowledge and build relationships.
Throughout the Gathering, these experiences will explore three connected areas of learning that reflect the purpose and priorities of IHHG 2027.
Upholding Truth and Addressing Denialism
Denialism can dismiss, distort or minimize established historical records, Survivor testimony and the continuing impacts of colonial policies. It causes real harm by undermining Survivors, families and communities, weakening public understanding and obstructing accountability.
IHHG 2027 will create space for Indigenous-led, evidence-based dialogue about what denialism looks like, how it spreads and how people and institutions can uphold truth responsibly.
Language and Culture
Indigenous languages and cultures carry identity, knowledge, relationships and ways of understanding the world. This pillar will celebrate cultural strength and examine community-led work to reclaim, revitalize, sustain and pass languages and cultural practices to future generations.
Sharing Indigenous Stories
Stories carry truth, memory, identity and responsibility. This pillar will explore how Indigenous stories are preserved, protected and shared, and how Indigenous Peoples and communities can maintain authority over their own narratives.
