Pre-Gathering Workshops
Participants will have the opportunity to participate in interactive workshops that provide practical skills for researching, preserving, or sharing Indigenous histories.
Registered attendees will be invited to RSVP for their preferred workshop 3 weeks before the gathering.
Library and Archives Canada
Guided by expert archivists and researchers, participants will learn the basics of archival research. They will explore topics such as the importance of archives, how to navigate LAC’s collection, and the best practices for preserving and handling documents.
The National Sixties Scoop Healing Foundation of Canada: The Sixties Scoop, Reconciliation & Indigenous Child Welfare
This session explores the history of the Sixties Scoop, Reconciliation and Indigenous Child Welfare in North America followed by a deep dive into the process and procedures of the 2024 Grant Program of the National Sixties Scoop Healing Foundation of Canada.

Field Trips (Off Site)
Participants will board busses departing from the Westin and head to local institutions that preserve and share history and culture. These exclusive “behind-the-scenes” tours will equip attendees with practical insights and knowledge to enrich their own communities upon their return home.
Registered attendees will be invited to RSVP for their preferred field trip 3 weeks before the gathering.

A historic gem within the National Capital Region under the care of the National Capital Commission (NCC).

Expert guides will lead IHHG attendees through the museum, showing us Indigenous artifacts, interactive displays, and more.

Arts and Culture Night
Talented Indigenous artists, curators, and storytellers from across Turtle Island will showcase their work at IHHG. This opening celebration will kick off the second annual Indigenous History and Heritage Gathering. Light refreshments and non-alcoholic beverages provided.
Admission is included with your Event Registration.
Non-participants are welcome to attend by purchasing a ticket for $50 + HST using the link below.
